The Johnson Center is happy to host the Cultivating a Culture for Board Engagement for Fundraising Workshop for Lakeshore Area board members on behalf of the Lakeshore Nonprofit Alliance and the Community Foundation of Holland/Zeeland Area. This workshop is designed for nonprofits serving Ottawa County and is intended primarily for board members. We are capping registration at two representatives from each organization and ask that at least one be a representative of the board.

Too often organizations pursue fundraising as an unfortunate “must do” in order to fund their programs. However, organizations that succeed in fundraising understand that their primary purpose is to build a movement of supporters who both believe in the mission and are meaningfully engaged in its activities. An active board is at the center of that movement. This workshop is intended for board members and leadership staff who are interested in learning how to reframe the culture in their organizations so that fundraising is no longer understood as a dreaded necessity of organizational existence but rather a powerful opportunity to advance the organization’s mission and impact.
This workshop will:
- Give rationale and tools for reframing an organization’s internal dialogue about fundraising
- Help participants map out their organization’s different constituency groups
- Provide tools for community engagement, branding, strategic financial decision-making, and board involvement in fundraising
A meal will be provided.
