CCEA approves 1,980 MW Ghatampur thermal power project
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the installation of Ghatampur Thermal Power Project of 1980 Mega Watt capacity. This Ghatampur thermal power project will be installed by a joint venture of Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited with an estimated cost of Rs 17,237.8 crore, including interest during construction component of Rs 3,202.42 crore.
The energy generated by Ghatampur Thermal Power Project (GTPS), which is about 14,000 MU per annum, will be mainly supplied to Uttar Pradesh. The commissioning of units 1, 2 and 3 will be 52, 58 and 64 months, respectively, from the starting date. Apart from it, the CCEA has also approved the proposal for M/s. Ambuja Cements Limited for acquisition of 24 per cent shares in its holding company-Holcim (India) Private Limited.
