Justice DB Bhosale sworn-in as Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court
Justice Dilip Babasaheb Bhosale has sworn-in as the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court. His oath of the office was administered by Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik. The post had been vacant since May this year whenJustice Bhosale's predecessor, Justice D Y Chandrachud, was elevated to the Supreme Court.
Mr. Bhosale was born on October 24, 1956 in Mumbai, and belongs to a family of freedom fighters and his father Babasaheb Bhosale had served as Chief Minister of Maharashtra. After obtaining his law degree from Government Law College, Mumbai, Justice Bhosale began legal practice in 1980. During his illustrious career as a lawyer, he served as Chairman of the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Vice-Chairman of Bar Council of India. He was elevated as a judge of the Bombay High Court in 2001. Prior to his appointment as Chief Justice of Allahabad HC, he was serving as acting chief justice of High Court of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
