Shubha Mudgal to get Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award
The advisory committee of the Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award announced the name of Singer Shubha Mudgal as the receiver of the 23rd Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award. She will be bestowed with this award for her outstanding contribution towards the promotion of communal harmony, peace, and goodwill. She will be presented with this Award on 20 August 2016 at Jawahar Bhawan Auditorium. As this award is given on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India.
The award was instituted by All India Congress Committee (AICC) of the Indian National Congress Party in 1992. The award carries a citation and cash award of Rs 10 lakh. It was instituted to commemorate the lasting contribution made by Rajiv Gandhi to promote peace, communal harmony and fight against violence. In 2014, the award was given to filmmaker Muzaffar Ali.
